Endpoint Detection and Response Powered by CrowdStrike

Threats Don't Survive Contact

Endpoint detection and response (EDR) is security software that records activity on every computer, spots attacker behavior and stops it. You deploy Falcon EDR on every covered workstation in minutes with our easy-to-follow guide, and Endpoint Detectives watches it 24/7.

  • Response in as little as 15 min
  • Nationwide coverage

What Is Endpoint Detection and Response?

Endpoint detection and response is a security tool that watches what happens on laptops, desktops and servers, then detects and blocks attacker behavior. Antivirus looks for known bad files. EDR looks for bad behavior, which matters because most attacks no longer use files at all.

The CrowdStrike 2026 Global Threat Report found 82% of detections in 2025 were malware-free, meaning attackers used stolen logins and built-in tools instead of malware. Signature-based antivirus has nothing to match against in those attacks.

How Does Falcon EDR Work?

Falcon EDR works through one lightweight agent on each endpoint that streams activity to the CrowdStrike Falcon cloud, where behavior is analyzed in real time. When the agent sees an attack pattern, it can block the process or isolate the machine. Our CrowdStrike Falcon EDR guide explains what the sensor records and how containment works.

01

Record

The Falcon agent records process, file, network and login activity on each workstation.

02

Detect

Cloud analytics and threat intelligence flag attacker techniques, not only known malware.

03

Contain

A compromised machine can be isolated from the network with one action, while it stays reachable for investigation.

04

Investigate

Every detection keeps a timeline of what ran, what it touched and where it came from.

EDR vs Antivirus: What Is the Difference?

EDR differs from antivirus because antivirus blocks known malicious files, while EDR detects suspicious behavior, keeps a record and lets responders contain a machine. Antivirus is a lock. EDR is a lock plus a camera plus a way to seal the room.

The IBM Cost of a Data Breach Report 2026 lists EDR tools among the factors that reduced average breach costs, by $177,710 compared with the $4.99 million global average.

Who reads the alertsNobodyYour team, or ours with managed detection and response (MDR)

EDR Is the Tool. MDR Is the Posse.

EDR raises the alarm. Someone still has to answer it at 3 a.m. With managed detection and response (MDR), our Security Operations Center (SOC) does.

Do You Need EDR or Managed EDR?

Most businesses need managed EDR, because an EDR tool only stops what someone acts on. Alerts at night and on weekends need a person ready to investigate and contain.

Attackers move fast. The 2026 Global Threat Report measured an average breakout time of 29 minutes in 2025, the time from first access to moving to another machine. An unread alert loses that race.

With Endpoint Detectives, the EDR license is included in our MDR service, and our 24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC) watches every alert. See the full list of MDR inclusions.

What you get with Endpoint Detectives

Endpoint Detection and Response: FAQ

What does EDR stand for?

EDR stands for endpoint detection and response. An endpoint is any device that connects to your network, such as a laptop, desktop or server. EDR software watches those endpoints for attacker behavior.

Is EDR better than antivirus?

EDR covers more than antivirus. Antivirus blocks known bad files, while EDR also detects malware-free attacks, records activity and isolates compromised machines. Most modern EDR products, including Falcon, include antivirus-style prevention as well.

What is CrowdStrike Falcon EDR?

Falcon is a cloud-based endpoint security platform. Its EDR capability uses one lightweight agent per device and cloud analytics to detect and stop attacks.

Does EDR need someone to monitor it?

Yes. EDR raises detections, and a person has to investigate and respond. That is the difference between EDR, the tool, and MDR, the service.

How much does EDR cost with Endpoint Detectives?

We do not sell EDR alone. The EDR license is included in managed detection and response at $150 per workstation per year, billed annually up front.

What happens when EDR finds a real threat?

Our SOC investigates the alert and, once a threat is confirmed, contains it remotely, for example by isolating the workstation. Customers get response in as little as 15 minutes.
