PCI DSS Compliance Support for Banks, Credit Unions and Firms
PCI DSS compliance support for financial services means monitoring, scanning and logging that meet card security requirements and the expectations of your examiners. Endpoint Detectives provides 24/7 managed detection and response (MDR), Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) log aggregation and vulnerability scanning that support PCI DSS v4.0.1 and the FTC Safeguards Rule.
What MDR supports
- Daily security log review
- Internal vulnerability scanning
- Incident response procedures
- Malware protection on every workstation
Support for requirements, not a compliance guarantee.
Why Do Attackers Target Financial Firms?
Attackers target financial firms because money and account data are one step away. The IBM Cost of a Data Breach Report 2026 put the average financial industry breach at $6.29 million.

Which PCI DSS Requirements Does MDR Support?
MDR supports several requirements in PCI DSS v4.0.1. It does not replace a Qualified Security Assessor, an Approved Scanning Vendor or your own policies.
| Requirement | What it asks | Endpoint Detectives |
|---|---|---|
| 5 | Protect systems from malware | CrowdStrike endpoint detection and response (EDR) on every workstation |
| 10.4.1 | Review security logs daily | SIEM log aggregation, 24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC) review |
| 11.3.1 | Internal vulnerability scans quarterly | Vulnerability scanning, included |
| 11.4 | Penetration testing at least annually | Quoted separately |
| 12.10 | Incident response plan and readiness | Remote incident response, included |
External scans under 11.3.2 must be performed by a PCI SSC Approved Scanning Vendor.
What About the FTC Safeguards Rule?
The FTC Safeguards Rule, 16 CFR 314.4 applies to many non-bank financial institutions, such as tax preparers, lenders and some accounting firms. Section 314.4(d)(2) requires continuous monitoring, or annual penetration testing plus vulnerability assessments every six months.
24/7 monitoring through MDR is one way firms address that requirement. Banks and credit unions follow their own regulators, so check with your examiner.

PCI DSS Compliance Support: FAQ
Does MDR make us PCI compliant?
No single service makes you compliant. MDR supports specific requirements like log review and internal scanning. Your assessor determines compliance.
Are you an Approved Scanning Vendor?
Endpoint Detectives does not claim Approved Scanning Vendor status. External PCI scans must come from a listed vendor.
Do you work with credit unions and community banks?
Yes, nationwide. Call (866) 804-0645 to talk about your exam requirements.
What counts as a workstation?
