HIPAA Cybersecurity Services for Healthcare Practices
HIPAA cybersecurity for clinics and medical, dental and therapy practices means protecting electronic protected health information (ePHI) and proving you watch for threats. Endpoint Detectives provides 24/7 managed detection and response (MDR), log aggregation and incident response that support HIPAA Security Rule safeguards.
What MDR supports
- Security incident procedures
- Information system activity review
- Audit controls and log review
- Risk analysis inputs from vulnerability scans
Support for safeguards, not a compliance guarantee.
Why Is Healthcare Hit So Hard?
Healthcare is hit hard because patient data is valuable and downtime is dangerous. The IBM Cost of a Data Breach Report 2026 found healthcare had the most expensive breaches of any industry for the 13th year, at $6.64 million on average.

Which HIPAA Safeguards Does MDR Support?
MDR supports several technical and administrative safeguards in the HIPAA Security Rule, found at 45 CFR Part 164, Subpart C. It does not replace your risk analysis, policies or business associate agreements.

|---|---|---|
| Risk analysis | 164.308(a)(1)(ii)(A) | Vulnerability scan findings as inputs |
| Information system activity review | 164.308(a)(1)(ii)(D) | Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) log aggregation and 24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC) review |
| Security incident procedures | 164.308(a)(6) | Remote incident response and reporting |
| Audit controls | 164.312(b) | Centralized logs from endpoints, network and cloud |

What Is Changing in the HIPAA Security Rule?
HHS proposed a major Security Rule update on December 27, 2024. It would require, among other things, vulnerability scanning every six months and an annual penetration test. As of October 2026, it is still a proposal, with final action listed for 2027.
Read the HHS fact sheet on the proposed Security Rule update. Our vulnerability scanning is included in MDR, and penetration testing is quoted separately. For how HIPAA fits with Oklahoma law, read our guide to HIPAA compliance in Oklahoma.
Current rule: the existing Security Rule remains in effect today. Plan for the proposal, comply with the current rule.

HIPAA Cybersecurity: FAQ
Does MDR make us HIPAA compliant?
No single service makes a practice compliant. MDR supports specific safeguards, like activity review and incident procedures. Compliance also needs risk analysis, policies, training and agreements.
Will you sign a business associate agreement?
Ask us. Call (866) 804-0645 to discuss your practice and your agreement requirements.
Is the new HIPAA Security Rule final?
No. As of October 2026, the December 2024 proposal is not final. The current Security Rule applies.
